HARPAGOPHYTUM

Also known as Devil’s Claw, this plant comes from the desert areas of South Africa and Namibia. Its roots have been used since the dawn of time to soothe painful and sensitive areas, especially joints.

It didn’t reach Europe until the 20th Century in the 60s. Its main active compounds were discovered and isoltaed into:

Harpagoside
Harpagide
Procumbide

These 3 anti-inflammatories are all known for their powerful action, proven in numerous clinical studies.
In 1996 ESCOP also confimed the ability of this plant to counter joint and muscle pain.

Used externally for massage, Harpagophtyum is recommended for soothing painful joints.

HORSETAIL

The Romans knew about Horsetail and used it as an energy-giving food. It is particularly rich in silica. Silica plays an important role in the formation of connective tissue.

Horsetail is also recognised as a powerful anti-inflammatory, and is recommended in cases of swollen joints. A test carried out in 2004 confirmed its anti-inflammatory soothing properties.

CAJEPUT

Aborigines in Australia have always used this plant to release and relax muscles. This remedy has been handed down from generation to generation.

Cajaput is almost unknown to the general public and yet it is one of the key ingredients in Tiger Balm!

ROSEMARY

Arabic doctors knew how to extract essential oils and they were already using rosemary oil extensively by the year 1000. Rosemary became legendary in Europe in the 14th Century. The story goes that the queen of Hungary, who was 72 years of age had chronic rheumatism, got better thanks to an elixir based on rosemary. Today, just as people used to do, we use rosemary in the form of a balm to soothe painful joints.

Scientists have seen that rosmarinic acid, one of the main compounds in rosemary could reduce the effect of the prostaglandins that are responsible for inflammation. The German E Commision and ESCOP recognise the external use of rosamary as an adjuvant for helping with rheumatic problems

PEPPERMINT

Hippocrates, the father of medicine, used Peppermint in ancient Greece for its soothing powers. It is used widely in modern treatments, including pharmaceuicals.

It has cools and relieves pain, thanks to the instant freezing and anti-inflammatory effects of the menthol it contains.

THYME

The Tyme used in Advance 7 comes from the mediterranean and is a well used natural treatment from the South of France.

Its medicinal properties have been known for thousands of years. Advance 7 uses the properties of Thyme essential oils for relaxing tense muscles and cramp.

GREEN CLAY

Certain clays have been used for centuries and in all civilisations to alleviate pain. In the 19th Century, German natural medicine pioneers recognised the amazing powers of certain clays.

In France, research done by the French Soceity for Endobiogeny and Medicine (SFEM) has indentified that it has remarkable properties.

Clay’s amazing ability to absorb liquid is well known and it has also been shown to be effective at reducing swelling in joints. But now, other health benefits are being discovered.

Firstly, green clay is made up of aluminium salts and silica. It is also full of other essential trace elements and minerals such as calcium, iron, potassium, magnesium etc.

Clinical Study

A recent clinical study has assessed the effectiveness of Advance 7. It was conducted under medical supervision and lasted 28 days using 30 volunteers (18 women and 12 men) aged from 55 to 75 years old. All of them suffered from joint pain in a daily basis for at least six months.

Methodology and evaluation criteria

The effectiveness of Advance 7 was evaluated during medical visits at the start of the test (Day 0) and after 28 days (Day 28) through a visual analogue pain scale and with a questionnaire based on perceived effectiveness for each of the volunteers.
